Museum

A museum is a place which houses and displays the objects having scientific or historical or artistic values. It cares for scientific, historic and artistically important objects and makes them available for the public to view. The exhibits can be permanent or temporary. Museums are located worldwide and it varies from large museums in large cities and local or small museums in countryside or towns.

The ancient time museum, like musaeum of Alexandria is equivalent to the modern graduate institute. In the beginning the museums are the private collections of wealthy individuals, families or institutions of art or curious natural objects and artifacts. These will be displayed only in wonder rooms. Only for the private art collections, public are allowed to visit.

The 1st Public museum in the world was in Europe. It was accessible only for the middle and upper-class people. It was very difficult to get the entrance. Then the genuine public museum was opened in Paris, Louvre Museum during the French revolution. It had free access for all stations and status of the people.

There are several types of museums found across the world. They are Archaeology museums, Art museums, History museums, Maritime museums, Military and war museums, Mobile museums, Natural history museums, Open air museums, Science museums, Specialized museums, Virtual museums, Zoological parks and botanic gardens etc.
