Researchers say that there is no specified time of when photography was invented. It grew little by little as days passed by and there was a tremendous change in the 18th century. In ancient times they used something called Camera Obscura meaning dark room. This is an optical device that projects the image of its surroundings on a screen. This led to major inventions in photography.
The first photo was discovered in the year 1827, using a material that hardened on exposure to light for around eight hours. Then came the photographic plates which reduced the exposure time to half an hour.
Sir John Herschel used the term “photography” for the first time in the year 1839. The word photography is derived from Greek Language which means light and writing. At this part of time there was a fear that painting and drawing would cease to exist, because till then photography was just drawing to them. These photographic plates were then researched and made photo rolls and were manufactured in large number and were given for public use. Even in today’s analog cameras, the technique of Camera Obscura is in use.
